Iowa Domestic Abuse Advocate
                 Certification Program

Purpose:

• Assure that domestic abuse project staff have training and experience necessary
  to provide intervention for victims.
• Recognize the competency of skilled advocates.
• Assure on-going professional growth.
• Increase awareness of domestic abuse advocacy as a profession.
• Validate and advance the role of domestic abuse advocates in relationship
  to other professionals.
• Assure that Certified Domestic Abuse Advocates uphold the Code of Ethics.

The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) Domestic Abuse Advocate Certification Program establishes three levels of certification based on training and experience.

Only staff of ICADV member projects are eligible for certification.

All paid employees and volunteers that provide 20 hours or more of direct service per week must apply for certification within six months of their date of hire.

Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence Training Policy

Effective January 1, 2006

Registration must be made using the appropriate form and must be made 48 hours prior to the training. Registration forms may be obtained by calling ICADV at 515-244-8028 or by email to Rebeccam@icadv.org.

Beginning with the training on March 23rd, all payment is required prior to or day of the training, and can be made by check or cash. Beginning with the Level II training in April, all Level II trainings will cost $40 if paid within 24 hours prior to the training and $45 if paid the day of the training or after. Beginning with the Level III training in March, all Level III trainings will cost $25 if paid within 24 hours prior to the training and $30 if paid the day of the training or after.

If breakfast or lunch is included in the fee and you do not register for the training 48 hours prior to the start time, you may not receive a breakfast or lunch as we order food based on the number of registrations.

If you attend training without registering, you will be able to attend only if there is available room. You will be required to pay for the meeting at that time.

Cancellation must be made a full 24 hours prior to the start time of the training. If it is made less than 24 hours before the event, you will be charged in full for the event. Please be aware that in order to maintain consistency this policy will be strictly adhered to.

If an outstanding invoice remains for you or your agency, you will not be able to attend Coalition trainings or events until you have resolved the issue with the Coalition. If you need to arrange a payment plan please contact the Coalition.

If less than ten people are registered for any training the training will be cancelled and any money paid will be refunded.
